New York City

We just got back from spending 4 days in NYC. This was a BIG trip for us. Find a job for me and find an apartment. Quite the task! To say that I was nervous would have been an understatement. Job hunting is never any fun and looking for somewhere to live is not much fun either!

Nick has an office in New York so he spent all day Thursday and Friday working. It actually worked out pretty well because I had my interviews set up on those days. We stayed in Chelsea so we could be close to our apartment search. So I had to take cab rides to my interviews in the Upper East Side. That was interesting...

New. York. Cab. Drivers. Are. CRAZY! I literally thought I was going to die. Multiple times. I had to keep my backseat driver comments to myself. Most memorable moment was when we almost got ran over by the bus. Any why did we almost get run over by the bus? We were in the BUS LANE! And there are plenty of other instances just as similar to this one! Needless to say I was very thankful every time I got out of the cab alive.

Interviews went really well...I think I have two offers. Both are really great clinics and would love to work at both! That's the thing about being a nurse...there is never a shortage!

Apartment search was a lot more interesting. We saw an apartment on Thursday night and spent most of the day Saturday looking with our broker. Living in Dallas you are use to space. Well that's just not the case in the city. I really had to keep an open mind. We saw some really nice apartments to livable apartments to apartments that had me running for the door. I should have taken pictures of some of those apartments...it's amazing that some people will live in that and pay $2200/month!

We ended up on an apartment on Upper East Side. We love it and it fits us. The area just feels like us. It's a little bit longer commute for Nick but he was all for it. We even went to an awesome Mexican restaurant after all the paperwork. So a little bit of home is just a block away!

Some fun pictures from a street fair we walked through. USA had just tied England for their first 2010 World Cup game. GO USA!
