Cold Spring, NY

Nick and I decided to take a day trip to Cold Spring, NY. It's about an hour train ride on MTA North. A lot of friends and just random people we have met said it's the perfect town to relax in when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We caught the 11am train and arrived in Cold Spring about noon. First on our agenda was to find some food... we were starving! We walked up Main Street (pretty much where everything is) and stopped at all the restaurants and read the menus. We ended up at Hudson Hills Cafe Market. The menu looked good and the place was crowded... which is always a good sign!

We sat outside and enjoyed the peace and quiet a small town like Cold Spring has to offer. Everyone was so friendly. It felt like you were a millions of miles away from the city. Our lunch was amazing. Nick had a yummy burger and I had the best BLT sandwich I have ever had. We ended our meal with dessert... and we were greedy. Nick had his own slice of peach and blueberry pie while I had my staple. Apple pie. So good!

After lunch we made our way to hike one of the many trails the town has to offer. On our way to the trail we saw this beautiful deer on the side of the road. He just starred at us and let me take a picture. Once a got a few he jumped away. Pretty cool.

We were looking for a specific trail but I don't think we ended up on the one we sought out. But, the one we did take was quite challenging at times. It ended up being extremely steep and very rocky. Almost like you were rock climbing. And it felt like it went on forever. I kept asking Nick when we would arrive at the top. It was pretty hot and luckily before the hike we stopped and got some water and gatorade. Otherwise I think we would have died dehydration!

The hike lasted about 2 1/2 hours but it was worth it. We had some amazing views. We would stop at all the places that offered views and take it all in. It was really peaceful and we loved it!

We headed back to the town and went to the town square located on the Hudson. It was still hot but there was a nice breeze from the water. So we found a bench and relaxed. I read on my Kindle while Nick took a short nap.

We caught the 6pm train back into the city. We were exhausted! We came home, took a shower, and finished our great day off with watching some TV before heading to bed.

What a great way to spend a Saturday!
